Licensed Child Care

Working with our local health authorities, we have safety and health protocols in place and are offering the same quality care that you and your family have come to rely on. By keeping children separated in small groups, enhancing cleaning and sanitization protocols, and ensuring proper hygiene and physical distancing when required, we are able to provide a fun, educational, and safe experience for all.

Below are some answers to some frequently asked questions about returning to child care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Daily self-screenings are required for both children and educators before entering our child care centres.

In addition to self-screening, our educators perform daily health checks as per the Ministry of Education's health requirements.

We will continue to provide the welcoming and caring environment that you and your family have come to expect in a Y Child Care setting. Changes to the classrooms will include setting up equipment to support limited contact between children and activities will be spread out throughout the classrooms. Additional outdoor time will be encouraged. At mealtime, children will be spaced apart and be served plated meals rather than self-serve.

Our YMCA Curriculum is play based. Initially, we will focus on getting to know your child, making them feel safe and comfortable. Planned activities will be based on the interest of the children and will take place indoors and outdoors.

Health and safety is always a priority at the Y, and we have enhanced our cleaning and sanitization practices. Cleaning takes place three times per day, and high touch surfaces and toys are sanitized several times per day. Toys that cannot be easily sanitized (e.g. plush toys) have been removed from the centre.

Our Educators are experienced, caring and qualified to work with children. Many of our staff are Registered Early Childhood Educators including our Supply Educators. We also employ Ontario Certified Teachers, Child and Youth Workers and other related professionals. All our staff are trained, hold Standard First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification and have regular police checks.
