A monthly giving plan is an easy way to budget for your donation and spread it out over the entire year. Your regular donation also allows the Y to plan for and count on your gift, so that we can continue to help children, youth, and families live healthier lives.

How it works:

• Sign up once by choosing the monthly gift option on the online donation form, or call our office for help setting up a monthly gift.
• Each month we will withdraw your donation directly from your credit card and put it straight to work.
• You can change or cancel your gift at any time by calling us.
• You will receive a tax receipt for the total amount of your donation each February.

Donate your vehicle to the YMCA of the National Capital Region and help make a difference in your community! When you donate your car, truck, RV, boat, or motorcycle to the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region through Donate A Car Canada, your gift will be put to good use. Your vehicle will either be recycled or sold at auction (depending on its condition, age and location). Free towing is provided in most areas across Canada, or you can drop off your vehicle to maximize your donation.

After your vehicle donation is complete, you will receive a tax receipt.

Tribute gift: Make a donation in honour of a special occasion, such as a birthday, holiday, anniversary, or wedding.

In memoriam gift: Honour the memory of a family member, friend or colleague is a thoughtful tribute to the accomplishments of one’s life.  

Simply complete the online donation form to make a contribution in someone’s name. Please note that a letter will be sent on your behalf that acknowledges your gift, but it will not specify the gift amount. A receipt will be issued to you for income tax purposes.

You can donate publicly traded securities (stock, bonds, mutual fund shares or other marketable securities), to the YMCA without paying capital gains tax on these securities. The receipt issued by the YMCA will be based on the value of the securities as at the close of business on the day they are received by the Y.

Please download the Securities Transfer form (PDF) and provide the completed form to your Broker to initiate a donation.

We encourage you to discuss this donation with your financial advisor before making such a gift.

Donations made annually of $1,000 or more qualify the donor, or donating couple, for membership in the Chair’s Round Table (CRT). This very special group of individuals, companies, organizations and foundations are recognized for their generous support through:

• A membership pin, engraved with the year.
• Invitation to the Chair’s Round Table Spring Fling – an event held to provide an
  exclusive opportunity for CRT members to socialize, and for the Y to pay tribute to our generous donors. 
• Invitation to our Holiday Reception – an event held late November/early December each year to show appreciation for our most loyal donors.
• Recognition on the interactive donor wall located at the Taggart Family Y.

CRT donors are recognized the calendar year after their donation; for example, a 2019 gift will be recognized in 2020.

Donations can be made to any campaign  and through any payment method (including gifts-in-kind).

One of our greatest aspirations in life is to leave a mark – to make a difference. By making a planned gift and becoming a Heritage Club member, you’ll be leaving a legacy while helping ensure Y programs and services continue to address the most urgent needs in our community, now and in the future.

Planned giving through a legacy gift to the Y can be made in a variety of ways:

• Life Insurance Policies
• Gift of Stock
• Create an Endowment Fund

As a Heritage Club member you will be invited to our annual recognition event and, with your permission, we’ll also list your name or your family’s name on our Donor Wall.

Before deciding on a legacy gift, we urge you to talk to your family, financial planner or insurance agent, lawyer, and your Y to help you determine what kind of planned gift would be best for you, your family and your estate.

All of our fundraising events offer opportunities for sponsorship, which is a wonderful alternative to donating as it provides a great way to support your community while receiving a benefit in return. Each event has its own sponsorship package, with different levels of financial contribution and benefits to suit every budget.
