Join us for an active celebration of Ottawa’s 200th anniversary. Try out a sport – for free – during a citywide weekend of drop-in activities hosted by the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Sport Council, Ottawa Tourism and Ottawa 200.

Local sport partners will offer introductory sessions – perfect for learning a few new skills or trying something different. You might even find your next favourite activity. There’s something for everyone, including accessible options, so bring your family and friends to join in.

Happening alongside Doors Open Ottawa and National Health and Fitness Day, it’s a perfect opportunity to get out and explore your city.

Sports 200 at the Taggart Family Y

Kid Zone

8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 2:15 - 3:45 p.m.

A fun-filled space where families can run, jump, slide, and explore in a safe and exciting indoor play structure. Kid Zone encourages movement, imagination, and quality family time. Please note: Socks are required for entry into Kid Zone. Register here.

Badminton

8:15 - 9:45 a.m.

A drop-in round of badminton awaits. Join us for your chance to make new friends and sharpen your skills. Register here.

Mega-Fitness Circuit Class

9 - 9:45 a.m.

Full-body workout combining strength, cardio, and endurance through rotating circuit stations. Using a mix of equipment and bodyweight exercises, this class improves overall fitness in a fun, supportive environment with options for all levels. Register here.

Basketball

10 - 11:30 a.m.

Join us for a recreational drop-in basketball game (or two).  This is the perfect opportunity to stay active and meet friends in a friendly game of ball. Register here.

Aqua Fitness Athletic Training

10:45 - 11:30 a.m.

A high-intensity, multi-level group workout that uses sports conditioning drills and athletic training moves to improve performance. Register here.

Family Swim

11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.

Family Swim is a time for families to enjoy both Taggart Family YMCA pools together in an unstructured setting. The buoy line will separate the shallow and deep ends, and no swim lanes will be in the main pool. Children under 12 must follow YMCA swim ratios for admission. Children ages 6–11 must complete a swim test and have a supervising person age 16+ present to meet swim ratio requirements. Register here.

Lane Swim

1 - 2 p.m.

A continuous swim time for adults and teens (13+) to come in and work out. Register here.
Open Swim

1 - 2 p.m.

Unstructured swim time for everyone to use the pool. Limited equipment will be available to use. The buoy line will separate the shallow and deep ends. Children under 12 must follow YMCA swim ratios for admission. Children ages 6–11 must complete a swim test and have a supervising person age 16+ present to meet swim ratio requirements.
