Since 2011, the YMCA of the National Capital Region has been an industry leader in breaking down barriers to employment in skilled trades. We specialize in creating high-quality, inclusive training pathways for individuals looking for a meaningful career.

Power of Trades programs have a 93% graduation rate and 80% of participants find work in their field. Over 80% of graduates belong to underrepresented populations, including youth, newcomers, and women.

Choose your program model:

Pre-Employment Training Program

A four-week pre-employment program that prepares participants to find, start, and keep work in the skilled trades.

140 hours

Technical Training Program

Hands-on training modules that build real-world construction skills and confidence.

Modules include: Safety on the Worksite, Framing, Drywall, Tiling, Trim work, Prime and Paint, Insulation, Building Envelope.

260 hours

Comprehensive Pre-Employment and Technical Training Program

Combines both the Pre-Employment and Technical training programs to ensure that all participants are provided with the tools and skills required to start an apprenticeship.
