Updated April 13, 2026 with Frequently Asked Questions
Effective April 1, 2026, Impark assumed responsibility for the parking services at 180 Argyle Avenue. Market parking rates will remain under the control of YMCA.
Impark has deactivated the existing parking control equipment (including gates) and introduce a cashless, mobile application-based parking program for the facility. Payment equipment and gates will be deactivated resulting in a seamless entry and exit for all parkers.
Paid daily parkers must complete payment upon arrival, effective April 1, 2026.
All parkers will exit by driving slowly toward the garage exit door on Argyle, which will automatically rise once your vehicle triggers the sensor. Please wait for the door to fully rise before exiting the garage.
YMCA staff at the Housing Front Desk are available to assist building users with the new system.
(Primarily YMCA Housing residents, YMCA staff, and others working in the building)
Currently-registered monthly parkers will continue to enjoy uninterrupted access to the garage. Impark has prepared new parking permits (“hangtags”) that must be displayed in the vehicle on each visit to the parking garage. The permits can be collected from the Housing Front Desk in the lobby of 180 Argyle Avenue starting April 1, 2026.
Monthly parkers must share any future changes (e.g., a new vehicle or plate) with Chris Friesen, Supervisor of the Housing Front Desk via 613-237-1320 ext. 0 or christopher.friesen@ymcaottawa.ca to ensure your vehicles are properly registered. For those paying for their monthly parking through the YMCA, you will continue using the same payment systems for your access. You will not pay Impark directly for your monthly parking pass. There will be a service fee of $20 for lost passes.
HFA members are entitled to a 50% discount on the parking rate for up to three hours. Members will use the QR code posted at the Membership Desk to enjoy the discounted parking rates. After scanning the QR code, members can select the duration of their parking session, register their vehicle plate, and complete the payment all through their mobile phone.
NOTE – parkers who do not own a cell phone and therefore cannot use the QR code must pay for parking at the Housing Front Desk. Payment must be completed upon arrival in order to remain parked in the facility. You must then register your license plate number with Info Kiosk staff in the main lobby.
Parents dropping off and collecting their children will continue to enjoy a 30-minute grace period for parking. Impark will provide Drop-Off permits that will be valid during the drop-off and pick-up times each weekday. Drop-Off Permits can be picked up from Manager Lindsey Williams starting April 1, 2026. Permits must be displayed while dropping off or collecting the child(ren) from the program each day. There will be a service fee of $20 for lost permits.
Parking for longer than the grace period will require the purchase of additional parking time through the mobile-based QR code posted throughout the garage and in the Housing lobby.
For those paying for hourly or daily parking, payment will only be accepted through the mobile QR signage posted throughout the garage and in the Housing lobby. Customers will scan the QR code, select the duration of their parking session, register their vehicle plate, and complete the payment all through their mobile phone.
Parkers who do not own a cell phone and therefore cannot use the QR code must pay for hourly/daily parking at the Housing Front Desk. You must then register your license plate number with Info Kiosk staff in the main lobby. This method is reserved only for those without cell phones.
Payment must be completed upon arrival in order to remain parked in the facility.
If parking is free to the user, it must be paid by their YMCA department.
If a department wishes to pay for the hourly/daily parking of visitors, including staff from other locations or volunteers visiting for the day, please ask the parker to provide their license plate information to the Housing Front Desk (in person or via email at reservations@ymcaottawa.ca) and their plate will be registered for the day. Housing Services will allocate the cost to the department in question. It is the responsibility of the parker to ensure their plate is registered so as to avoid a fine.
Contractors who park in the building will be expected to pay for their own parking.
Customer Service
Impark was selected in part because they are committed to ensuring “every parking customer has a pleasant experience.” Their phone number can be found in the garage and the lobby of Taggart Building. Impark is fully bilingual (English/French) and all customer inquiries will receive a professional response within 24 hours of receipt. Customers can also contact them through www.impark.com. Impark will post QR codes for customer satisfaction surveys to gather feedback on the service.
Enforcement
Impark will perform patrols daily through the garage. Patrol does not target parkers, rather ensures that all parkers have followed the rules of use of the facility on each visit. Failure to display your permit or failure to register for your parking session will result in the issuance of a $98.00 parking ticket. Supporting photographs are taken by the Patrol team for every violation notice issued. You may appeal the issuance of any infraction notice by following the instructions on the ticket. Our aim is that no valid parker at 180 Argyle will ever have to appeal a notice.
Multiple violations of the parking rules may result in the removal of your parking access for the facility.
Please note that enforcement will begin on Monday, April 6 after a five-day grace period while building users get used to the new system.
